About Me

I began sewing as a little girl, creating with fabric scraps, needles, thread, and a strong desire to make something of my own. What started as curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion.

Over the years, I’ve made just about everything that can be crafted from fabric and beyond. From wedding dresses, suits, and custom-fitted garments to curtains, Roman blinds, valances, upholstery, slipcovers, lamps, headboards, and upholstered furniture. I’ve sewn dancewear, outfitted a hot dog stand, custom-fit a yacht with specialty window coverings, and created countless custom clothing pieces, bags, purses, placemats, bedding, wall hangings, banners, flags, children’s clothing, baby items, cloth diapers, and more. I’ve also completed what feels like a million alterations and refashioned more garments than I can count.

One of my favorite aspects of sewing is repurposing and transforming existing garments, found fabrics, and upholstery into something entirely new. For over 15 years, I ran a hat business with my best friend, Noggins.ca, where I created upcycled hats from reclaimed materials. Reducing my environmental footprint and sewing with intention is deeply important to me, and sustainability is woven into much of my work.

Another meaningful part of my practice is creating Memory Projects. I’ve been honored to work with many people to turn clothing and textiles into loving, tangible memorials—pieces that can be held, used, and treasured in remembrance of someone special.

One of the most unique highlights of my sewing career came when I collaborated with ONE AXE Inc. in Elora, Ontario. The company specializes in climbing courses, extreme expeditions, and stunts, and I was invited to join their team to help sew custom heat suits for a daring project: a zipline across the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia. It was an incredible and unconventional experience, and I’m proud to say the expedition was a success.  The suits performed beautifully and looked amazing. Photos from this project, along with other work, can be found in my Gallery.

In February 2024, I opened my sewing studio at 349 Elizabeth Street in Guelph, Ontario. Located centrally on the edge of The Ward, the studio is a bright, welcoming space that holds me and all my sewing gear and allows me to create, teach, and collaborate.
